ABOUT

WHO ARE WE?

Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Okauchee, Wisconsin is a Christian congregation teaching the Gospel of Christ in the greater Oconomowoc area in many ways.  More than just offering worship services, Holy Trinity also offers a full educational program in our Tree of Life Learning Center and Holy Trinity Lutheran School, as well as many other opportunities for fun and fellowship.

The reason we come together for this important work is that we know we are imperfect people.  We haven’t always loved God or our neighbor the way God has commanded us in his Word.  We have disobeyed God in our thoughts, words, and actions.  We are completely incapable, on our own, to remove our sins.

But from God’s Word, the Bible, we learn how the one true God – the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit – has taken our sins away.  The Father in his love sent his Son to be our Savior.  The Son, Jesus Christ, lived a perfect life in our place, took the punishment we deserved on himself at the cross, and rose triumphantly from the grave.  The Holy Spirit gives us a saving faith which believes all this through his Holy Word and blessed Sacraments.

This is the message which we at Holy Trinity believe, teach, and confess.  We hope you will give us the opportunity to share this message with you in more detail.  Please stop by and bring your questions.

Holy Trinity Lutheran Church is a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Synod (ELS), a national church body headquartered in Mankato, Minnesota.  As an ELS congregation, we confess that we are saved by Grace Alone (Ephesians 2:8), through Faith Alone (Acts 16:31), revealed in Scripture Alone (John 5:24).  Though we are totally sinful from birth, Jesus Christ has paid for our sins on the cross and gives us eternal life in heaven.

We subscribe to the Lutheran Confessions (Book of Concord) because they are a faithful and accurate summary of this biblical doctrine.

The ELS has been in fellowship with the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS) since 1872.
